For a long time, I believed that “buying back your time” meant hiring help—delegating the cleaning, the cooking, or the errands. And while there’s value in that, I’ve discovered another, quieter way to buy my time back. One that costs nothing but gives me everything:
I started waking up at 5AM.
Not because I’m a morning person. Not because I have it all together. But because I needed time that was truly mine—before the emails, before daycare drop-offs, before the world started asking me to be everything for everyone.
Why I Needed a Change
Evenings in my world are packed. From daycare pickups to dinner, bath time, and bedtime routines, I barely have an hour or two left at night to work on the things that fuel me—my business, my dreams, my creative passions. And by the time I sat down to do any of it, I was too exhausted to give it the energy it deserved.
I found myself burned out, overwhelmed, and worst of all—unrecognizable.
I was doing all the things but feeling like none of it was for me.
That’s when I made the choice to stop rushing through life and start reclaiming my mornings.
What 5AM Has Given Me
That early wake-up call has gifted me something priceless: space.
Space to move my body.
Space to write, reflect, and work on projects that inspire me.
Space to do a few quiet chores and set my home up for the day.
And most importantly—space to start the day on purpose rather than in panic.
I’ve bought myself 2–3 more hours each day. And surprisingly, I don’t feel more tired. In fact, I feel more energized, more centered, and more in control of how my day unfolds.
This is What Self-Care Really Looks Like
At Raised Delectable, we talk a lot about confidence, style, and self-care. But the truth is—none of those things matter if we’re constantly running on empty.
Waking up at 5AM isn’t about hustle. It’s about honoring myself first, so I can show up fully for the people and passions that matter most.
For me, self-care looks like a slow, quiet start.
It looks like working on my website while the house is still asleep.
It looks like writing this blog—not because I have to, but because I want to.
What Could You Do With One Hour Just for You?
Maybe 5AM isn’t your hour. Maybe yours is during a lunch break, or after the kids go to bed, or on a weekend morning when the house is quiet.
Whatever it is—find it. Protect it. Use it.
You deserve a moment that’s just yours. Not to pour into everyone else, but to refill your own cup. To remember who you are. To reconnect with the confident, beautiful, capable woman inside you.
